Conference Manager
Dear Students, Teachers and Sponsors,
For the 15th annual session of Model United Nations Of Lübeck 2012 I, Thorben Strähle, am proud to hold the office of the Conference Manager. Currently I am 18 years old and attend the 12th grade of the Thomas-Mann-Schule in Lübeck. Throughout the last couple of years I have participated in 8 MUNs in different countries such as New Zealand, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany. On the one hand I was taking part in MUN as a delegate for 5 times, on the other I was chairing 2 times and I had the honor to serve as the Deputy Secretary General of MUNOL 2011. Following my personal introduction, I would like to state how very grateful I am to deserve the opportunity to organize MUNOL 2012. Furthermore I have great confidence in my assistant Philipp and the Secretaries-General and I look forward to working with them for a purpose that it is worth working for.
MUNOL has always been a great week, MUNOL was a great conference in 2011, and my team and I will be working really hard to ensure that MUNOL 2012 will be an extraordinarily great conference. It will be the best MUNOL conference ever.
Yours faithfully,
Thorben Strähle
Assistant Conference Manager
Dear students, teachers, and guests!
My name is Philipp Kleiner and I am elected this year’s MUNOL Assistant Conference Manager. It is a great honor for me to not only bear the miscellaneous responsibilities of a student officer but also give something back to the community and MUNOL as a whole, since I have greatly benefitted from it during my entire high school career. While I feel a special personal connection with MUNOL as it was my first time to ever experience such a conference, I have attended MUNs in several countries around the globe like the USA, Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your interest and participation in MUNOL. All of us deeply appreciate it. I believe that it is a variety of different factors that make MUNOL a unique and memorable experience for everybody. First and foremost the English discussions of highly controversial political topics will both improve your language skills and simultaneously help create an extended global understanding of an interconnected world. After my year abroad in the USA, I especially value the internationality of our MUN. It is the people that significantly contribute to the overall experience. Speeches on severe topics can be very poignant and MUNOL is certainly not a quotidian opportunity to make a difference. All this forms the famous MUNOL spirit.
I am looking forward to welcoming you in our beautiful city of Luebeck.
Yours sincerely,
Philipp Kleiner
Assistant Conference Manager
Financial Manager
Dear Students, Teachers and Sponsors,
My name is Mats Barkow and I will be the responsible Financial Manager of MUNOL 2012. By the time of MUNOL 2012 will be 18 years old and attending the 12th grade of the Thomas-Mann-School in Lübeck. As the Financial Manager it is my task to invite and inform sponsors as well as taking care of the financial management and supervising the budget of the whole conference. In the past I have participated in seven MUNs so after three sessions in Rome, one in The Hague and three here in Lübeck, MUNOL 2012 will probably be my 8th conference.
I am really looking forward to all the work that has to be done before and while all of you will finally experience an extraordinary 15th MUNOL conference!
With best regards
Mats
Secretary General
Dear Teachers, Participants, Chairs and Delegates,
My name is Stine Walter and I will fulfil the position of the Secretary General at the 15th annual session of Model United Nations of Luebeck in 2012. Currently I am 17 years old and attend the 11th grade at Thomas-Mann-School in Luebeck.
Having had the opportunity to participate thrice in MUNOL, once in RIMUN and THIMUN, the conference 2012 will be my 6th MUN. During my last Model United Nations of Luebeck I acted as the president of the ECOSOC, which was my second time as a chair.
After having introduced myself, I want to express how honoured I am to be the Secretary General and to be a part of making this conference happen. I have no doubt that the Deputy Secretary General Robert von Kügelgen and I will do our very best to make MUNOL 2012 as unforgettable as it should be. In addition we will work in close collaboration with the rest of the team and especially with the Conference management.
Besides all participants, the teachers and chairs, I want to thank especially you delegates because without you MUNOL would neither work nor exist. You bring the spirit in to this week and you are the heart of fruitful debates and important discussions.
I am looking forward to seeing you all next year. MUNOL 2012 will once more be a memorable and indispensible experience!
With best regards,
Stine Walter
